All trans-national activities were completed up to the start of the pandemic in February 2020. To address the difficulty of completing the final trans-national event planned for March 2020 we organised a virtual event in April 2021. This event involved all participating schools. For this event we used the board game that we had devised for the planned event of March 2020. There were five students from each school who took part in this event along with an additional five coordinating students from DHFS. These latter five students ‘ran the board game from the UK’. The event was managed by the staff at DHFS and took place between 12.00 and 14.00 BST on 28 April 2021.
The coordination and organisation of arranging simultaneous ‘live’ participation by students from the five schools involved in this project, across three different time zones ranging geographically from the UK to French Guiana via Germany and Spain should not be underestimated. To describe it as a logistical triumph would not be an overstatement. The game session ended with social time between all the participating students.
